Vision, 20 Years to Fulfilment (Like unto Joseph’s Dream)

In 1989 about 19 years ago, Karen, Doris, Geok Eng and I were praying one Saturday night in Clementi, at my mother’s home. That night Karen had a vision of four Chinese junks (ships). Karen interpreted that it could be that she needed to take four trips back to Hong Kong from which she had recently come back from as a short term missionary. We also interpreted that it could possibly mean four cities – Singapore, Shanghai, Taipei and Hong Kong.

Since then we have gone to Rhema USA and have come back to start Faith Family Church Singapore (FFC) in 1997. On 17 October 2005 we started our first prayer mission trip to Shanghai. Between 14-16 October 2007, I received the understanding that the four Chinese junks were not about four cities because we had already gone to more than four cities by then. The revelation came to me that it was actually about four people going on prayer mission trips which I had been sensing since early 2007. I also concluded that the fourth person most likely to be, was Doris because she was the one praying with us in 1989. Hence we began to pray about the fourth Chinese junk during our daily noon prayer.

Three weeks later, Doris called and met up with Karen. Karen then presented to her the interpretation of the vision and Doris began to pray about the matter.

The Lord began to reveal and confirm with Doris that she was part of the plan of God concerning the work of prayer missions in FFC. This was part of her destiny; a destiny preordained with purpose and foreknowledge of God. In 2001 Doris had left to help someone else start his church. Now she is returning to FFC, after almost seven years, to fulfill the vision that Karen received from the Lord about 19 years ago.

The vision is about 20 years in making, just like Joseph’s dream that took 20 years to fulfil.

In this case, Joseph and his brothers should not have continued to stay in Egypt after the seven years of famine. They should have returned to the land of promise. However they stayed too long and came under the bondage of Pharoah.

Comparing another similar situation, the Shunamite woman returned to her homeland from the land of the Philistines after seven years of famine there (2 Kings 8:1-6).

There is a seven year grace in a land of famine – but do not remain in spiritual famine for too long. Do not stay out of the will of God or the plan of God for too long!
