Get Serious With God

Hebrews 10:22
22 Let us all come forward and draw near with true (honest and sincere) hearts in unqualified assurance and absolute conviction engendered by faith (by that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness), having our hearts sprinkled and purified from a guilty (evil) conscience and our bodies cleansed with pure water.  AMP

If we want direction and answers to our needs, then we need to come forward and draw near to God with all sincerity of heart.

We not only need to come to God on a personal basis but we also must recognize that God has ordained the church to help you draw near to God.

For example, an effective prayer ministry is ordained of God to help you to get into the presence of God to pray out the answers that are suited to your situation.

To deny a certain ministry in the church by not drawing from it, is not accepting what God has put in place to help you.

Get serious with God:

1. By coming to God with a sincere attitude that God will give us the answers we need.
2. By accepting the fact that God has placed ministries in the church to help meet your needs. Furthermore, you need to approach the ministries in the church for help.

Your Obedience Will Have a Bearing on Your Children

We can readily see in the Bible when parents obey God, they invoke the blessings of God on their children. Our obedience to God has a bearing on our children’s lives for good. I would like to share two examples from the Bible.

Genesis 26:1-5,12
1. There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines, in Gerar. 2 Then the LORD appeared to him and said:”Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. 3 Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. 4 And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; 5 because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.” 12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him. NKJV

Abraham went down to Egypt because of a famine. But God sustained Isaac in the land of famine because of Abraham’s obedience to God. Isaac was blessed by God appearing to him in which God gave him direction. Not only that, God also assured him that He would be with him and would bless him. God reaffirmed that the land would be given to his descendants and they too would be blessed. In a time of need (famine) God’s assurance was most precious. There were two-fold blessings in God’s promises to Isaac as a result of his father’s obedience to God’s commandments; His ordinances (regulations) and laws: (more…)
