You Can Believe God for the Best and Nothing Less!

Recently we were in China teaching at a Bible school where we prayed for the students. The Lord revealed to Ps. Karen concerning one young girl. The Lord said that He would send someone for her. Then later this young girl told us that she already had a boyfriend, who was living in another city, but was unsaved. So we realised that God was trying to tell this young girl not to be unequally yoked and that God had someone better who would be in His perfect will for her. This would be especially crucial as she was training to go into the ministry.

When Ps. Geok Eng and I were in Indonesia last month attending Rhema Indonesia students’ retreat, we prayed for one of the students there. The Lord spoke through Ps. Geok Eng telling the girl to wait for God’s best. She began to tell us that for the past two weeks she had been sensing an uneasiness in her spirit concerning her current boyfriend, even though he was saved. God really wanted the best for her. Even though this girl’s boyfriend was a Christian but he may not have been the right man who would help contribute to her success in life. He may not be the man who would be her pillar of strength in fulfilling God’s plan for her life.

It seems like the Lord has also been speaking to our congregation recently about not being unequally yoked with unbelievers. That is to say we are not to date unbelievers or marry an unbeliever. You can ask God, believe God to bring you a godly man and you need not have to settle for second best or anything less. Amen!

2 Corinthians 6:14-16

14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” NIV

1 Corinthians 7:39

…she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. KJV

The second best is not good enough in the sight of God. Don’t settle for second best or less! If you make a stand to believe God only for the best and believe God for a godly man and nothing less, God will meet you at your level of expectation. God already has someone in the making for you.

How Not to Change Your Mind After You Have Heard From the Lord

There are people who have come to us for counselling and for prayer seeking God’s direction for their lives. We have experienced the wisdom of God that He anoints us with because we stand in the pastoral office. During the counselling session they agreed to the Lord’s direction and a peace just lifted them from an oppression and a confusion as to which way to go. There was joy when they made the decision to go the way that God had directed them. But months down the road when things got rough, they began to doubt that that was actually where or what God had wanted them to be or do.

So what should you do to hold yourself steady when the going gets tough?

Write the Vision Down

Write down what God said, how He said it, where He said it. Write down how you came about making that decision, that this was the direction God was leading you. Write down what you sensed in your spirit. Write down the counsel given to you that seemed to fit and had lifted you from the oppression and confusion. Write down what you experienced before the decision and the result of the decision that was made.

Keeping a prayer journal is very important. It will remind you of what was spoken to you by the Holy Spirit.

We have seen people forgetting how the Lord led them in the first place. So when things got tough they quit.

Habakkuk 2:2

Then the LORD answered me and said:
 ”Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it. NKJV

The scripture tells us to write the vision or the revelation (NIV) down and the revelation written down will help you run. Whenever you feel like stopping then read it again. It will remind you and cause you to keep on running.

Jesus said this…

Matthew 7:24-25

24 Build on the Rock
“Therefore whoever hears these sayings [any saying] of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:  25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.  NKJV

Do what Jesus says to you and don’t change what He says. Then you will be building your life on the ROCK and not on shifting sand.
