Pastor's Notes - July 2009

July 21st

God is a Good God

Children have a can-do faith. Children have an innocent enthusiasm that inspires others. Children remind us of the way we used to be: carefree, exuberant and unconcerned about failures.

Children can remind us of what’s important. They enable adults to understand that faith need not be stale and static , but can be dynamic and full of wonder. That faith is action as well as belief.

This week we dedicate testimonies from two mums about their kids.

Shannon Lim, my 5-year-old, has been attending Faith Kidz Sunday service since August last year. Not only is she becoming physically stronger but spiritually too.

She understands she can get things done through prayer like sickness. She tried to lay hands on her brother, Mattheus, when he was sick. She is constantly telling Mattheus not to be afraid of the thunderstorm, etc, where she understands Jesus is always with them. She prays every night without fail for the whole family. As far as I can remember, she has not been sick since the day she attended Faith Kidz. She is much more confident in character too. PTL! :)

Mattheus Lim, my 23-month-old, has been attending Faith Kidz since last December.
He is getting physically stronger too, especially during this period when he’s constantly attending Sunday service with me. He will murmur words like “Jesus, in Jesus’ name, I’m strong, Jesus is alive forever & ever.” PTL!

This year has been a good year. Everything seems easier for my four children especially in the area of studies. They are more focused and are able to grasp faster what’s been taught.

In the past it was a struggle for one of my boys, but this time round by the grace of God he has managed to pass almost all of his subjects. And, we are believing God that he will excel in his Mandarin too. Now, he is able to focus more easily. In previous times he would come out last in class but now he is one of the top 20 in his class!

My kids are rarely sick and it has been a great testimony of God’s goodness to those around us. In one instance my older son was staying with his cousins who had been sick at that time. He was not affected by their sickness and that prompted my relatives to ask what I had been feeding him with. Praise the Lord for His Word which is God’s medicine. If my children were to fall ill they would be quick to use their authority over sickness in Jesus’ name or check where they have missed it.

Praise the Lord!

Launching Faith Bible School Singapore on 6th July 2009

Year 2003

In 2003 upon the invitation of Rev. Wee Boon Hup, I attended the YWAM & Antioch 21 Missions dinner. It was there that the Lord put in my heart that we were to bring Christians from every province of greater China to be trained in Singapore and then sending them back to pioneer churches and ministries, and thereafter to establish their own Schools to train their own people.

Year 2006

Before Patsy Cameneti moved to Australia with her family, one day, she felt to speak to me about these two Scriptures:

2 Timothy 2:1-2

1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. NKJV

Acts 26:17-19

17 I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, 18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’ 19 “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, NKJV

We are to commit to faithful men of what we know and we must be obedient to the heavenly vision. At the time of her speaking with me, I had no clue as to what else I was supposed to do.

Then on 18th April 2006, four of us were in prayer and we were praying for Rhema Singapore. I got this in my spirit that God wanted me to start a school. Then I said this, “Show us how to do the school.” I wasn’t even planning to start a school and I wasn’t even sure that the Lord wanted me to start a school. I said (Show me how to do the school) because I had that in my spirit while we were praying for Rhema. Then I further said, “One idea is to start small, train the first batch, just have 10 students.”

Year 2008

On 12th March 2008, we went on a prayer mission to Lijiang, Yunnan. We knew that we were “going up to the mountain” just like Moses who went up to the mountain for forty days. We understood that in Lijiang we would be receiving a new assignment from the Lord.

It was revealed to us that we were to start what we would call the “Native Missionary Training Program (NMTP)”.

NMTP is for the training of Christians coming from China and then sending them back to their homeland. The objective is that they would eventually pioneer their own ministries or pastor churches to fulfil the vision of “Go Teach My People Faith.”

We started planning for the school one month after I received the assignment from the Lord. Why one month later? I wasn’t too sure when to start until the Holy Spirit reminded me to start doing something about it. So the only thing I knew to do concerning the school was to start planning.

Year 2009

We are starting Faith Bible School Singapore with the first class on 6th July 2009. Our first batch consists of 10 students – 9 from China and one from Singapore. Incidentally our church also started on 6th July 1997, twelve years ago.

Our vision is to see the graduates eventually pioneer dynamic praying churches and ministries to fulfil the commission of “Go Teach My People Faith”, teaching their people how to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and how to flow with the Holy Spirit.

Their churches and ministries would become bases from which they will reach out to cities, towns and villages around. Building city churches and ministries will provide resources for their ministries to do the work of God. In this way through faith they will become self-reliant and would be more than sufficient to give to others.

I will build God a school as He desires; not my school and not someone else’s school. I will build it on the Name of Jesus and not on any other name.
