The Plan of God for Faith Bible Church Singapore Unfolding in Phases
First Phase – The Formative Years (1997-2007)
Faith Bible Church Singapore (formerly known as Faith Family Church Singapore) had its inaugural service on 6th July 1997. The first phase of this church (1997 – 2007) was the formative years of Faith Bible Church Singapore (FBCS). For me, it was a time of proving and testing: God would prove me faithful before entrusting me with further assignments. On 18th June 2010, I received a report from Pastor Erich Engler from Switzerland. He said that while he was praying with his church for us, the Lord spoke to him that Geok Eng and I were proven of God. During the first ten years of this church, the Lord was also raising up a group of people for us. A group of people who are ready to step into the next phase, to carry out His will as planned by Him, according to His purpose.
The Lord is positioning people in this church that has the same Spirit of faith, people who will run the race with unity of purpose (which comes from the Lord’s plan and purpose). As the Lord unfolds the next phase of His plan for this church, He is also bringing in people of the same Spirit who could unite with us for the same purpose, because we are not able to do this on our own.
The Second Phase – New Assignments
In June 2007, I received a new assignment from the Lord – to do our first Faith Convention in December 2007. Very specifically, the Lord dropped into my spirit to have Rev Wee Boon Hup (President, TRAC of the Methodist Church in Singapore) to be the speaker alongside me. Since then, we have been doing it every year.
In March 2008, while praying in Lijiang, Yunnan, I received our next assignment – to start a Bible school and bring ministers of the Gospel from different parts of China to be trained in Singapore. The purpose is for them to eventually build bases in major cities of China so that they may “Go Teach My People Faith” and instruct believers on “How to Follow the Leading of the Holy Spirit”. In 2009, we started Faith Bible School Singapore, a division of Faith Bible Church Singapore, with 10 trainees (1 from Singapore, 9 from China) in the charter class. This year, we have 28 trainees (3 from Singapore, 24 from China, and 1 from the Philippines).
The Lord also directed us in 2009 to do our first prayer seminar in Switzerland, in Pastor Erich’s church. We had a fruitful time conducting the seminar in May 2010, and Pastor Erich has invited us to do another prayer seminar next year. Pastor Karen and I have also done prayer seminars in various parts of China since 2008. In August 2010, she is doing another seminar for the leaders of a large registered church in China on the subject of “Supportive Ministry and Teamwork”. (Pastor Karen is registered with the relevant authorities of that province; the training she will be conducting there will also be officially acknowledged.) In 2005, we sent Pastor Karen and some of our leaders to the Ministers, Leaders and Helps Conference, in the United States. There, they received tremendous impartation from Rev. Tony Cooke whom the Lord used at that conference.
And now, doors are open for her to go forth and impart the same Spirit of faith to church leaders in China in the area of supportive ministry.
As we stayed the course of our journey for the first ten years, we were able to continue into the next phase, and have received an assignment every year for the past three years. What if we had not continued to pastor the church, but gave it to someone else, and started another church? What if we had abandoned the pastoral ministry, to go into the travelling ministry? We would never have seen what the Lord is doing now. We would never enter into this present phase of the church. We would never have fulfilled the will of God. Life would be a circle, going nowhere and most probably we will stagnate both spiritually and in the natural. But praise the Lord, we did not abandon the Lord’s plan for us.
Your lives are also lived in phases. Often it is in prayer and through prayer that you are able to see that the end of a phase is at hand. It is through praying much in unknown tongues and getting into the realm of the Spirit that God enables you to see there is a new phase coming and what that is. Then life is a progression and not stagnation and regression, both spiritually and in the natural.
Yes, life is a progression – it must be!
