Honouring the Lord
Abraham obeyed God and left his ancestral home and relatives to go where the Lord directed him.
God rewarded him with riches. When God made Abraham rich, it means he was heavily “weighted down” with wealth. Abraham honoured the Lord and that was how the Lord honoured Abraham. God is amazing and He does things superabundantly above all we can ask or imagine. It pays to obey and to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
Gaius was commended by John for doing things that honoured God.
When Gaius took care of Demetrius who was a travelling teacher sent by John, in a manner that honoured God, Gaius had in fact honoured God and his giving honoured God.
John prayed that Gaius prosper in all things.
Givers and giving honours God.
John prayed for givers to prosper above all things.
