Understanding the Power of Holy Communion

The same night Jesus was betrayed, He celebrated the Passover with His disciples. Jesus said: “With desire I did desire to eat this passover with you before my suffering…” Jesus was eager to eat the passover meal with them. It was during this last passover meal that Jesus instituted the Lord’s supper, or what we call the Holy Communion.

Whenever a believer partakes the Holy Communion, he should do so with full understanding of its significance. Communion is not a ritual. It has a deeper meaning.

In writing to the church at Corinth, the Apostle Paul said: “For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you…”

What was the revelation about the Holy Communion that Paul passed on to the church?

Why do we partake of the Holy Communion?

What do the elements of the Communion, namely the bread and the cup mean to us?

Whenever we eat the bread and drink the cup, who do we remember?

How often should we eat the bread and drink the cup?

What are we doing when we eat the bread and drink the cup?

With what attitude should we partake of the Communion? How do we partake in such a way that will benefit us?
